This striking shift in geopolitics, fuelled by China’s rising hunger for power, will possibly shift the power dynamics in this region from the West to China and the West does not realize it or does not care.
The Early 2000s And The “Arab Spring”
The MENA region was largely excluded from China’s radar and it was not until the early 2000s, when the Arab Spring was ignited, that China embraced a more involved policy toward the principal countries in the region.
