In a decision that risks straining ties between Paris and Beijing two weeks before the Winter Olympics, France’s Parliament slammed China’s “genocide” against its Uyghur Muslim people.
The Opposition Socialists in the lower chamber of Parliament presented the non-binding motion, which was approved by President Emmanuel Macron’s LREM.
It also urges the French government to take “the necessary measures within the international community and in its foreign policy towards the People’s Republic of China” to safeguard the Xinjiang region’s minority population. Read more on:
