The Chinese Communist Party has urged Chinese students in Israel to collect information from local media, continuing Beijing’s global habit of exploiting students to promote its interests. Pei Li, a UC Berkeley postdoctoral researcher who formerly studied at the Weizmann Institute, told Eurasianet that he couldn’t trust fellow Chinese students because “You never know who will report you to the authorities.”
